Installation

How to install Kiosk Library on Windows.

System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum
  • Disk Space: ~100 MB for the application
  • Internet: Not required (Kiosk is fully offline)

Installing Kiosk

  1. Download the .exe installer from the download page.
  2. Run the installer and follow the setup wizard.
  3. Launch Kiosk from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut.

Windows security warning? Windows may show a SmartScreen popup saying “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway to continue. This appears because the installer isn’t code-signed — Kiosk is safe to install.

That’s it. No accounts, no sign-ups, no internet needed.

First Launch

When Kiosk starts for the first time, you’ll find three default categories already set up: Assets, HDRI, and Textures. Each comes with Polyhaven pre-configured as a source, so you can start browsing and downloading free assets right away.

From here you can:

  • Add more sources to any existing category — point Kiosk to folders on your machine
  • Create new categories for anything else in your library (e.g., Volumes, Lights, References)
  • Adjust file filters per source — file extension filters are configured per source, not per category

Installing DCC Plugins

Each DCC app has its own plugin. Install them through Kiosk’s Plugin Manager:

  1. Open App Menu → Plugin Manager
  2. Select a DCC (Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, or Houdini)
  3. Click Install
  4. Browse to your DCC’s installation directory
  5. Kiosk copies the plugin files and confirms the installation

See the Plugins page for setup details per DCC.

  1. Open App Menu → Activate License
  2. Enter your license key (from your Gumroad purchase email)
  3. Click Activate

The source and file limits are removed immediately.

Data Location

Kiosk stores its data in your Windows AppData directory:

%APPDATA%\Kiosk\

This includes your database, thumbnails cache, plugin configurations, and settings. Your actual content files are never copied — Kiosk only creates an index pointing to their original locations.

Updating

When a new version is available, an Update button appears in the top-right corner of the main window. Click it to download the latest version.
